Reed Bunting

Emberiza schoeniclus

non-breeding male - Nottinghamshire, England - December 2010

The Reed Bunting is a common and widespread bird with a range that extends from western Europe to Japan.  It is most commonly found associated with reedbeds, marshlands and riversides, but with the increase of the use of oil-seed rape as a commercial crop it has also been increasingly colonising farmland over the last couple of decades.
